Show Manager Joe O'Neal was kind enough to write to me about this year's show:
K+B: What makes Boston a great host city for such a large boating event?
NE Boat Show: The New Convention Center is a first class facility. Plus most boating enthusiast love coming to Boston. They will make a day of it and in some cases will stay over at a nearby hotel. K+B: What new technologies is this year's boat show most excited about?
NE Boat Show: Propulsion. The new pod drives, jet drives and new fuel efficient technologies being introduced in the outboard motor segment.
K+B: What do next year's prospective visitors need to know about attending the Show?
NE Boat Show: The New England Boat Show is a great place to start if you are just getting started in the process of buying a boat for the first time. NEBS offers educational seminars, DIY seminars all geared towards the novice boater. There are over 50 boats on display that are very affordable. With a small 10 – 15% deposit these boats can be purchased and financed for $250.00 per month or less.
K+B: Why are boat shows so important to keeping the boating industry going strong?
NE Boat Show: The boat shows offer the consumer one-stop shopping. In one day the consumer can see over 700 boats without traveling all over New England. The boat dealer can have face to face contact with their present customers and attract new customers in a very informal environment.
If you're in the New England area and you want to get a taste of that warm summer breeze, head in to the Boston Convention Center now through the 24th of February. It's a great place not only to try on new boats, but also to sample products, see demonstrations, get information, and shop for all of your favorite nautical gear.
