Everything’s just better on a boat. Can’t you see it on the faces of Andy Samberg
and friends in their family-friendly music video?
That was a joke – if you’re with young children, don’t use
that link.
Anyway, I have yet to find a landlubber friend who doesn’t
have a monk-like transcendental awakening when brought onto a boat and out
into the open water. Especially now, in
the digital age of slowly murdering your eyesight at the mercy of endless LED
screens, it’s important that we stop and spend some time in the great
outdoors. Boating, with its endless
sense of freedom and its therapeutic hydro-therapy, is a great way to take a
break from life.
Check out these top five reasons to buy a boat this winter,
which are a great summation of some of the greatest benefits of boating.
You can’t really understand some of these benefits at work –
particularly the family bonds, stress relieving, and healthier lifestyle points
– until you witness a busy anchorage for yourself. It’s amazing how being on a floating piece of
fiberglass, in the middle of a body of water, facilitates meaningful
connections.
I’d be interested to see the percentage of new boaters who
came to boating as a result of being brought out on the water by a friend. I’m willing to bet the conversion rate is
higher than at two-for-one beer night.
Once you spend time on a boat, there just ain’t nothin’ like it.
